BeLive: believe, be live
“BeLive: believe, be live” is an international exhibition of contemporary art on the topic of a person's awareness of own place in the world, own state and priorities in the context of a new reality. Through paintings, photography, installations, collages, graphics, video artworks we develop a deep prospective on the religious images, we remember those who were by our side in the toughest life situations, we commemorate the victims of the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine. This is a reflection on whether there is a place for faith in our lives now. This project is a call to maintain inner strength, a call on the society for human oriented values. The title of the exhibition is “BeLive”, which can be interpreted ambiguously: "believe" and "be live". Through our own experience and self-awareness, we reveal the theme of faith and thirst for life. Exhibition curator Yana Gryniv: "In the most difficult times, we usually turn to God. On the one hand, we hope for help, on the other - we ask the question: "How could this have happened?". In their very diverse works, 19 artists explore just such a controversial state, search for faith that helps to move forward and survive. Many of them survived the occupation, some works were even created during the occupation. Someone lost their home, relatives, someone had to leave their home and their whole life, saving their children. At this exhibition, we not only present talented works, but also tell very difficult stories from the real life of millions of Ukrainians."
Within the framework of the exhibition, tasting of the Ukrainian wine which survived the Russian occupation of Bucha was held in cooperation with the Permanent Mission of Ukraine to the International Organizations in Vienna and Vinos de La Luz. Diplomats of 16 countries to the OSCE attended the event. Curatorial tours in English and Ukrainian took place.
