Art Contact Ukraine invites artists to participate in a site-specific contemporary art exhibition taking place in the pavilion of Setagaya Park in Vienna, a location that attracts thousands of visitors every year.
How do we perceive ourselves through nature? How do landscapes, water, light, seasons, and living ecosystems reflect us — and how do we reflect them? “The Human Through the Prism of Nature” exhibition explores the relationship between humans and nature through contemporary art evolving around the body, landscape, water, trees, and stones. The project considers nature not only as the space around us, but also as a mirror through which we can reconsider our own bodies, vulnerability, and transformation. The project is inspired by the installation Nami (“Wave”) by a Czech-French-Austrian artist Kristina Viera Wolf, who works with semi-transparent printed textile panels and explores the transformation of the body through the perspective of nature and the continuous cycles of life. The exhibition opening will be accompanied by a musical performance by a Japanese artist Manami Okazaki.
The Setagaya Park pavilion will be open for the visitors during the exhibition dates.
Participation in the Project
We invite artists to explore the proposed themes through their own artistic practices and to create a dialogue between the human body, nature, and public space. Photographers, visual artists, and practitioners of other artistic disciplines whose work is thematically and conceptually connected to the project are invited to participate.
